Cinnamon Cap Fruiting Block – 5lbs
Grow a rare, chef-prized mushroom almost never found fresh in stores.
Cinnamon Cap mushrooms are one of the hidden gems of the culinary world. Rarely sold fresh due to their extremely short shelf life, these mushrooms are instead grown and enjoyed by those who know just how exceptional they are. Highly prized by top chefs for their delicate texture, subtle sweetness, and warm, nutty aroma, Cinnamon Caps deliver a flavor experience that’s nearly impossible to buy—but surprisingly easy to grow at home. Watching their glossy amber-brown caps emerge in clustered formations is both beautiful and deeply rewarding.

Why We Love Cinnamon Cap Mushrooms
Cinnamon Caps are a true culinary treasure—grown fresh, enjoyed immediately, and remembered long after the meal is over. Their rarity isn’t due to difficulty, but because they simply don’t travel well. That’s what makes growing them at home so special.
-
Highly Prized by Chefs: Cinnamon Caps are sought after for their refined flavor and elegant presentation, but are rarely available commercially.
-
Delicate, Complex Flavor: Mildly sweet, nutty, and aromatic with a subtle cinnamon-like warmth (despite the name, they contain no actual cinnamon).
-
Tender, Silky Texture: Soft caps and slender stems cook quickly and absorb flavor beautifully.
-
Nutrient-Dense & Low Calorie: Low in calories and fat while providing fiber, vitamins, and essential minerals.
-
Rich in Micronutrients: A good source of B vitamins, potassium, phosphorus, and copper.
-
A Rare Growing Experience: These mushrooms feel truly special—something you grow because you can, not because you can buy them.
How to Grow Your Cinnamon Caps
-
Setup: Fill your humidifier tank with distilled water and place the Cinnamon Cap block inside your Lykyn Grow Chamber. Leave space in front of the block for mushrooms to grow freely and avoid blocking the humidifier airflow.
-
Sterilize: Flame sterilize a razor or knife and allow it to cool completely.
-
Slice: Cut a small “X” on the side of the bag where you want the mushrooms to fruit.
-
Select: Place the chamber top back on and choose “Cinnamon Cap” from the Lykyn App.
-
Relax: Cinnamon Caps grow gracefully and steadily—your chamber will maintain ideal conditions while they develop.
When It’s Ready to Harvest
Cinnamon Caps are ready when:
-
Caps are glossy, caramel to cinnamon-brown, and fully formed.
-
The caps are still slightly convex and not fully flattened.
Harvest promptly—these mushrooms are best enjoyed at peak freshness.
How to Harvest
Gently twist and pull clusters from the base, or cut cleanly with a knife. Handle carefully, as Cinnamon Caps are more delicate than oyster mushrooms.
How to Store
-
Fresh: Store in a paper bag in the refrigerator.
-
Shelf Life: 2–4 days fresh (very short compared to most mushrooms).
-
Best Practice: Harvest only what you plan to cook soon—fresh is where Cinnamon Caps truly shine.
Cooking Tips
Cinnamon Caps are all about finesse:
-
Cook gently over medium to low heat.
-
Sauté briefly in butter or olive oil until just tender.
-
Season lightly—salt, herbs, or a splash of white wine is often enough.
They’re exceptional in pasta, risotto, light stir-fries, omelets, or simply served on toast. Overcooking will diminish their delicate flavor.
Preparing for a Second or Third Flush
-
After harvesting, remove any remaining mushroom material from the surface of the block.
-
Re-soak the block in cold, clean water for 12–24 hours to fully rehydrate.
-
Drain thoroughly and return to your Lykyn Grow Chamber.
-
Select “Cinnamon Cap” again in the app to begin the next flush.
