Automated Mushroom Grow Box
Grow gourmet mushrooms at home. Just refill water.
A countertop chamber that grows gourmet mushrooms on its own. Load a fruiting block, close the door, and check the app when the harvest window opens. The chamber handles the humidity, the airflow, and the light cycle every hour of every day so you do not have to. 5 to 14 day first harvest, depending on species.
What the Lykyn Smart Mushroom Grow Box Is
The Lykyn Smart Mushroom Grow Box is an automated home-cultivation chamber for gourmet mushrooms. It replaces the wet towels, the daily misting routine, the CO2 guesswork, and the timer-based grow-tent build that most first-time growers give up on inside their first two flushes.
Inside the chamber sit four coordinated systems: an ultrasonic humidifier that maintains the fruiting-body sweet spot, a paired intake and outtake fan array that exchanges fresh air on the schedule each species needs, a species-tuned LED array that fires the light spectrum mycelium recognises as day, and a sensor loop that reports back to your phone.
Do I need experience?
No. Tap the species in the app, refill water when it prompts, harvest. There is no substrate mixing, no sterilization, no humidity guesswork.
How often do I refill water?
The 2.8 liter tank runs a full grow cycle for most species. The app tells you when it is time to top up.
What if my first grow fails?
Every unit ships with a 12 month replacement warranty. If a cycle fails from a hardware or firmware issue, we replace the affected part.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does the Lykyn Smart Mushroom Grow Box work?
Load a colonized fruiting block, scan its QR code with the Lykyn app, and close the door. The chamber pulls the species profile, then runs humidity, airflow, and species-tuned lighting on its own for the full grow cycle. You refill the water reservoir once and harvest when the app tells you to.
Which mushroom species can I grow in it?
Pink Oyster, Blue Oyster, Black Oyster, Golden Oyster, Lion's Mane, Shiitake, Cinnamon Cap, and pioppino work out of the box with pre-loaded species profiles. Additional species are added through app updates. Any block sized for the chamber and inoculated with a temperate gourmet species can run.
How much does it cost to run?
Modest. The chamber's peak power draw is a fraction of a modern refrigerator's, and standby power between cycles is minimal because the humidifier and lighting only activate once a species profile is loaded. Monthly running cost is comparable to a small LED aquarium light on the same schedule.
How loud is the chamber?
Quiet enough for a bedroom or a home office. Chambers on the SilentFlow 5V fan platform run near the noise floor of a modern refrigerator, and most growers report they cannot hear it running from across the room.
Do I need mycology experience?
None at all. The onboarding is written for a first-time grower, and the species profiles remove every judgment call that would otherwise take a book to explain. If you can pair a smart speaker, you can run a grow.
What is included in the box?
The chamber, a region-appropriate power cable, the water reservoir with fill line, the growing shelf, and a quick-start card with the setup video QR code. Fruiting blocks are sold separately so you can pick your first species.
What is the warranty?
The chamber ships with a limited manufacturer warranty covering the humidifier, the fan platform, and the sensor board against manufacturing defect. User-replaceable parts (fans, growing shelf) are stocked in the Gear collection.

Still Air Box
Create a Sterile Workspace Anywhere
If you’re serious about mushroom cultivation, sterility is everything. A clean environment prevents contamination and gives your projects the best chance of success. The LYKYN Still Air Box is made for mushroom growers. It creates a stable, closed space that limits airflow. This helps keep out contaminants, allowing you to focus on precision.
Whether you’re inoculating grain spawn, pouring agar plates, transferring liquid culture, expanding colonies, or preparing monotubs, the LYKYN Still Air Box gives you the control you need to take your growing to the next level.
Why Choose a Still Air Box?
When working with spores or cultures, you have two main options: a laminar flow hood or a still air box. Flow hoods are powerful but expensive and bulky. A still air box offers the same essential sterile environment at a fraction of the cost, making it the perfect solution for both beginners and advanced cultivators who want portability and simplicity.
Designed for Mushroom Cultivation
-
Angled Viewing Panel – Positioned above the dual arm ports so you can see your work clearly and make precise movements.
-
Ample Workspace – At 3 ft wide, 2 ft tall, and 2 ft deep, there’s plenty of room for grain bags, agar dishes, jars, and larger projects.
-
Dual 9” Arm Ports – Adjustable with cinch straps for a secure, comfortable fit while keeping contaminants out.
-
Cord Port Access – A dedicated 4” cinch-sealed port allows you to run electrical cords for tools and equipment inside the workspace.
-
Easy Access Doors – A 14” x 19” side zipper door and a 27” x 17” back zipper door make loading and unloading effortless.
Benefits at a Glance
-
Restricts airflow to reduce exposure to spores, bacteria, and microorganisms.
-
Provides a stable, sterile environment for every stage of mushroom cultivation.
-
Large, ergonomic workspace designed specifically for growers.
-
Lightweight, portable, and easy to clean between sessions.
⚠ Safety Note
Never use open flames or heat sources inside a still air box. For sterilization, rely on alcohol sprays (70% isopropyl) and proper sanitation practices.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a still air box used for?
A dead-air workspace for sterile cultivation tasks. Inoculating grain, working with agar plates, transferring liquid culture, and any step where airborne contamination would ruin the grow. The enclosed space stills the air enough that dust and spores settle out of the working area.
Do I need one to grow mushrooms at home?
Not for fruiting block grows. Lykyn fruiting blocks arrive already colonized, so the sterile step is done at the lab. A still air box becomes useful when you move to liquid culture, grain spawn, or making your own substrate from scratch.
How is a still air box different from a laminar flow hood?
A still air box has no active air filtration; it simply blocks room airflow so dust settles. A laminar flow hood actively pushes filtered air across the workspace. The still air box is cheaper, requires no power, and is enough for most home growers moving beyond fruiting blocks.
How do I clean the still air box before use?
Wipe every interior surface with 70 percent isopropyl alcohol or a 10 percent bleach solution and let it dwell for at least ten minutes. Rinse with distilled water if you used bleach. Repeat cleaning between every session; contamination compounds fast in an unwiped box.
Can I use it for grain-to-grain transfers?
Yes, this is one of the primary uses. Sterilize the exterior of both jars, place them inside the box, wait five minutes for the air to still, and make the transfer with gloves and a flame-sterilized spoon.
What size fits inside a Lykyn grow chamber?
The still air box is intended as a standalone workspace, not something you place inside the chamber. Its footprint sits on a countertop and gives you room to work with several jars or plates at once.
